It’s the start of a new month; six months to go until Halloween in October (where has the time gone?)!
Here are the three articles that caught my eye today:
- I love Southwest Airlines – it’s gritty, no hands attitude when it comes to marketing and gaining customers is priceless. This partnership with China Airlines and Icelandair? It confuses me because it’s now becoming another normal airline (pay for baggage, seat upgrades etc): link
- Is AI learning to escape human control? Or is this an illusion? Link and
- This will be your new jet passenger plane (there’s a reason why Delta, United and Alaska invested in this start-up): link
- Bonus: if you’re working in the media and entertainment industry, you need to see how other industries are using AI and see if you can adapt them at your company. Walmart’s agentic AI idea? Brilliant. I’ll break it down for you:
4a) company created its own AI LLM (aka, didn’t use a third party company) to suit its needs
4b) AI was trained using Walmart’s data; no one else’s
4c) here’s how the company is using AI: (1) trend analysis – make the item faster so it’ll arrive at the store for you to buy in 18 weeks (not months; weeks) (2) automating tasks and (3) customer support -> answering the customer’s question(s) and helping them find the item they need
4d) the next stage? A personal shopping AI agent, tuned to your needs (you need to train it when you shop)
See how the same ideas are being applied at the leading entertainment companies (cough….netflix…cough)?
